RTVE<\/a> has awarded CROSSPOINT<\/a> the implementation of AI capabilities in its Archive \u2014 a milestone project aimed at achieving new levels of efficiency and depth in audiovisual content analysis.<\/strong>This initiative marks a further step in RTVE\u2019s digital transformation and intelligent management of its vast archive and media library. It will involve the automated analysis of over 20,000 hours of content annually, ensuring better accessibility and long-term preservation.<\/strong>The project also represents the first awarded tender combining the expertise of CROSSPOINT\/CROSSMEDIA<\/a> and AMPLIFY<\/a> \u2014 a collaboration that sets the stage for future joint ventures in both Spanish and international markets.<\/strong><\/h2>\n

CROSSPOINT (part of ES MEDIA Group), <\/strong>in partnership with AMPLIFY, has been selected to deliver the automatic metadata service<\/strong> for RTVE\u2019s historical audiovisual archive<\/strong>. The Spanish public broadcaster has entrusted this mission-critical task to the technology integrator, which will ensure seamless integration into RTVE\u2019s existing archival workflows.<\/p>\n

With the growing use of archive-based content in programs like Cachitos de Hierro y Cromo<\/em>, Viaje al Centro de la Tele<\/em>, and Conexi\u00f3n Vintage<\/em>, and the rise of video-on-demand platforms like RTVE Play, RTVE has prioritized automated metadata processing since 2020. This approach not only improves access and discoverability but also maximizes the value and usability<\/strong> of the broadcaster\u2019s rich content library.<\/p>\n

\n

The awarded service will automate the analysis of 20,000 hours per year<\/strong><\/span>: 18,000 hours of Spanish audio, 5,000 hours of video, and 5,000 hours of multilingual audio<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Following the completion of the previous service contract, RTVE launched a new tender<\/strong> with enhanced requirements. The broadcaster aims to catalog over 198,000 hours of heritage-rich content<\/strong> from regional centers and cinema archives \u2014 a vital resource for content production.<\/p>\n

The awarded service will automate the analysis of 20,000 hours per year<\/strong>: 18,000 hours of Spanish audio, 5,000 hours of video, and 5,000 hours of multilingual audio. AMPLIFY\u2019s AI-based platform, SEIRI<\/strong><\/a>, will be deployed to streamline the entire process, enabling rapid search, review, and reuse of archival content.<\/p>\n

A high-demand, AI-driven Project<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Set to launch on October 1<\/strong> after final deployment in September, the service includes comprehensive audio processing capabilities<\/strong>. In addition to speech-to-text transcription, CROSSPOINT and AMPLIFY tools will handle punctuation and capitalization, named entity recognition (NER), keyword extraction aligned with RTVE standards, automatic content classification by format (e.g. documentary, interview, news), summary generation, gender identification, and voice-based identity recognition of public figures. Semantic segmentation will automatically timecode and divide content by story and speaker, especially in news and magazine programs.<\/p>\n

From a visual perspective<\/strong>, the system identifies people onscreen, recognizes public figures, detects alphanumeric characters (OCR), identifies logos and brands, detects objects, classifies scenes, and generates image descriptions. Particularly critical is the system\u2019s ability to identify and timestamp key editorial segments in RTVE\u2019s news content \u2014 including intros, headlines, sports blocks, weather segments, live signals, reporter standups, and end credits.<\/p>\n

Set to launch on October 1<\/strong><\/span> after final deployment in September, the service includes comprehensive audio and video processing capabilities<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Multilingual analysis covers<\/strong> transcription and translation of content in Catalan, Galician, Basque, Valencian, and Balearic languages into Spanish. The system will also undergo proof-of-concept trials for advanced use cases such as applause detection, hate speech detection, image-based search, and music recognition.<\/p>\n

CROSSPOINT<\/strong>\u00a0will train RTVE\u2019s internal teams<\/strong> to independently operate the platform, supported by a help desk available 12 hours per day and a maximum response time of 48 hours.<\/p>\n

\"Crosspoint<\/a><\/p>\n

CROSSPOINT\/CROSSMEDIA and AMPLIFY: A strategic alliance with global reach<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n

The RTVE project is the first step in a broader strategic agreement<\/strong> between CROSSPOINT\/CROSSMEDIA and AMPLIFY. The partnership aims to deploy automatic metadata extraction and summary generation tools<\/strong> across broadcast and OTT ecosystems in all markets where both companies operate.<\/p>\n

At the heart of the project is SEIRI<\/strong><\/a>, a \u201cdigital archivist\u201d capable of analyzing audiovisual content and extracting highly structured data. With an intuitive interface, natural language queries, and seamless integration into archival databases and editing tools, SEIRI<\/strong> enables efficient metadata workflows for media professionals.<\/p>\n

Another key technology from AMPLIFY<\/strong> is GeNews<\/strong><\/a>, a generative AI tool that creates video news pieces \u2014 including scripts, footage selection, voiceover, and basic editing \u2014 based on form inputs. Fully compatible with archival databases, it enhances new content creation with historical footage and metadata.<\/p>\n
